A Vision of a Different Future for Aging Well

Be one of the 1,000 people to give or pledge $1,000 or more to help bring it home!

The Vision

In Mesa County, more than 10,000 people are now over the age of 75 and that is expected to double in the next decade. Research shows that everyone has fears, especially as they age.

The Bacon Center for Living Your Best and its programs will address the most significant fears and concerns we all have.

New Center & New Programs

The Bacon Center for Living Your Best will provide the infrastructure and hub for a continuum of programming to meet a wide array of needs as those in our community age.

It will be a space for entertainment, socialization, and primary health care as well as a hub for HopeWest palliative care and hospice staff.

Campaign Progress

In 2017, HopeWest leadership and Board of Directors knew expansion was on the horizon. After hearing the need to create a hub of care and services for seniors in our community, leadership considered creating new programs and weighed options to meet this need.

HopeWest was there in a way I did not expect or know possible when our family truly needed support. When I was asked to consider a challenge gift beyond our other donations to help HopeWest expand their mission, I couldn’t say no. I know that without our help, this project—creating the Center for Living Your Best and opening a PACE program—is not feasible, and I know it will transform how all of us experience aging. Not only that, it will sustain the organization we have come to love.

Home is very important to me, and I want to be there for as long as possible. The new Bacon Center for Living Your Best will enable people to remain independent in the comfort of their own homes, while fostering social connections that are critical for happiness and health.

My husband, Mike, believed that it was important to give back to the community that made his success possible. Now, I hope to inspire you to give back and support this groundbreaking project.

IN-DEPTH LOOK

Project Details

The Herb & Laura May Bacon Center for Living Your Best is a significant project for HopeWest. You will learn it is not just about a building and creating a “space” for programs, but a home for the level of innovation required to meet the needs facing our community.

The Center for Living your Best will be a setting that is inviting, entertaining and warm. It will house programs that provide for human caring, lifelong learning and ultimately change our world view of the elderly.

It will be more like a club and less like a facility.

This project will transform the way individuals and families adapt to the challenges presented by the last chapters of our lives. It will enable people to age in place and remain as independent and fulfilled as possible in the comfort of home, yet retain social relationships critical for our health. It will transform our future as an organization, but even more importantly will define our personal future as we age. This campaign truly will result in “hope blooming.”
